Hamilton Eye Associates

The goal for the design of this 5,200 square foot modern vision care facility was to maximize natural light while creating flexible spaces that can evolve over time with new technology. Creating a central tower that extends longitudinally through the building provides natural light throughout all areas, rather than just the front, with the use of clerestory windows. Streamlining the patient flow from testing with various equipment through to exam rooms was also key. The design centers around the large, open testing area located in the heart of the building, flanked by the clerestory windows on both sides, and a bank of four exam rooms on each side of the testing area. The open testing area allows for equipment growth and equipment/patient movement throughout the day and connects patients directly with the exam rooms for a smooth transition between spaces. The sleek retail area was designed to display the specialized eye care furnishings and complements the clean, contemporary style throughout the office.
