Our Team

Cornerstone Architects creates intelligently and carefully crafted residential and commercial structures that complement both the end user and the site. Under the auspices of the firm’s partners, Bob Wetmore, Mark Carlson, Rodney Palmer and Ranjit Gupta, Cornerstone Architects strives to deliver enduring and inspiring buildings. Our firm is comprised of a talented staff of eleven licensed architects, two licensed interior designers, and more than twenty extremely talented associates and office staff.

Mark Carlson, AIA

Principal Partner

Mark began his pursuit to become an architect by studying and receiving his professional Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture at Texas Tech University. As one of the founding partners of Cornerstone Architects, Mark has overseen the growth of the firm from the beginning to the expansion of over 30 architects and staff. Mark specializes in single family and multifamily resort housing, as well as ranch homes throughout Texas. He also has extensive experience in hospitality design in country clubs and hotels. Mark is a registered Architect in Texas, Colorado, Maryland and Florida, as well as a member of the American Institute of Architects. He has served in his community in several organizations including the Board of Directors for Austin Sunshine Camps, Easter Seals, Mary Lee Foundation, Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church, as well as the Bond Oversight Committee for Eanes School District.

Bob Wetmore, AIA

Principal Partner

As a principal partner and one of the two founding partners of Cornerstone Architects, Bob has developed the company’s design principles and oversees the design development for the luxury residential and resort architecture of both the international projects as well as those throughout the region. Bob was recently reappointed to the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners, a nine-member Board appointed by the Governor of Texas and confirmed by the Senate. Bob’s work, both design and written articles, appears in architectural publications both here and abroad within books, magazines and newspapers including the Wall Street Journal.

Rodney Palmer, AIA

Principal Partner

Rodney is a principal partner at Cornerstone Architects and has been honing his craft for decades with experience in all phases of architectural design, project management, and construction. He has been with the firm since 2001, designing award-winning projects featured in various publications and appearing on several home tours. Rodney is a registered Architect in Texas and Arizona and specializes in custom home design, as well as various commercial work including retail, recreational, mixed-use, medical and office headquarters, and multi-family facilities. Rodney has been actively involved throughout his community, currently serving on the Lake Travis ISD Career and Technical Education Advisory Board, and has volunteered architectural services to local non-profits including CASA, Austin Sunshine Camps and Family Link Foster Care.

Ranjit Gupta, AIA

Partner | Design Director

Ranjit has followed his passion for creativity and design since an early age which ultimately led him to the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin and graduating with Honors. He brings a vast array of experience in International and local projects and has been with the Cornerstone team since 1998. Ranjit is a Partner and Design Director at Cornerstone and is currently a licensed Architect in Texas, Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Nebraska and Georgia, as well as a LEED Accredited Professional.
