Honoring excellence, innovation and the best residential architecture, interior design and landscape architecture projects across the country, the Luxe RED (Residential Excellence in Design) Awards have become a prestigious accolade for architects and designers across the country. We were honored to have been a recipient last year with our Wallis Residence being awarded the Classic Architecture Regional Winner.
Last Thursday, Luxe hosted the 2020 Luxe RED Awards Virtual Celebration online as they announced this year's winners. Cornerstone Architects was awarded the Wow-Factor Room Regional Winner for our West Ridge Residence Gym Addition!

The design for this modern, glass gym addition was driven by the goal to maximize the views of the beautiful seven acre property, and allow the clients to be surrounded by nature while working out. Working in collaboration with custom home builder, Bonterra, another key objective was to match the context of the existing traditional exterior of the home while incorporating a sleek, modern addition. Access to the 650 square foot gym begins through a hallway and up a small set of steps from the newly remodeled master closet. A narrow glass hallway and stone mass then leads to the gym, which opens up on three sides with massive floor to ceiling windows and doors. Each of the 24-foot wide doors along the sides pocket into the stone mass leaving an unobstructed view to the hill country beyond.
We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that our Lakemoore Residence was awarded the Kitchen Regional Winner! Submitted by interior designer, Wheelhouse Design, the Lakemoore Residence kitchen features muted-green glass backsplash reflecting natural light. Custom book-matched walnut cabinets and Thermador appliances ground the room, while an expansive island offers plenty of space for entertaining.

According to the Luxe RED Awards judging criteria, a multidisciplinary panel of notable industry experts review submissions and select winners in conjunction with Luxe Interiors + Design’s Editor-in-Chief. Each project is evaluated on its own merits according to the following criteria:
Aesthetics: Is the design engaging, compelling, visually stimulating? Does it provoke interest, have the capacity to be captivating?
Regionally Relevant: How well does the project fit into its regional landscape and environment? How appropriate is it in context?
Creativity: Does it incorporate a forward-thinking or original approach, use a new medium or materials?
We are proud and honored to receive these coveted awards and look forward to our projects being featured in the upcoming September/October issue of Luxe Interiors + Design!
