Indie Meme Film Festival 2019

Cornerstone Architects is proud to support the 4th Indie Meme Film Festival happening this weekend! Indie Meme is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote socially relevant independent cinema from South Asia in an effort to influence social and cultural awareness and consciousness and encourage and facilitate dialogue.

Alka Bhanot (wife of Cornerstone Architects' partner and Design Director Ranjit Gupta) is Co-Founder of Indie Meme along with Tripti Bhatnagar. Together they have created Indie Meme as a platform that engages, educates, entertains, and brings together different communities to promote cross-cultural understanding and build a globally conscious community.

Indie Meme offers screenings of carefully curated independent cinema including feature, documentaries, short films, etc., from South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, and Iran), with an aim to connect the audience with the makers of the films and celebrate them for their creative genius.

Indie Meme's flagship event, Indie Meme Film Festival, is an award winning four-day festival celebrating excellent cinema, filmmaker interactions, panels, parties, networking and discussions.

"IMFF@Austin is film festival with a difference, not only screening contemporary cinema from the South Asian Subcontinent but also a platform for both the talented international filmmakers, as well as many community partners, who amplify the message and theme of the film and get an opportunity to share what they do." Alka Bhanot, Co-Founder of Indie Meme

IMFF 2019 held their soft opening event on Sunday, April 14th, but the main festival kicks off with opening night this Friday, April 26th and runs through Sunday, April 28th. The festival brings over twenty films from seven countries in nine languages with five International Filmmakers in attendance. It is a defining four days of rich, immersive cultural experience through incredible cinema from South Asia.

All-inclusive badges are sold out, however wristbands and tickets can still be purchased here! All screenings are held at AFS Cinema, located at 6259 Middle Fiskville Road, and all films have English subtitles. Check out this exciting contemporary cinema from South Asia and become a part of a community of like minded people in Austin!

In addition to IMFF, Indie Meme organizes year-round screenings and events in Austin and Dallas. They also do co-presentations with area festivals and other organizations. In 2018 Indie Meme launched a youth initiative and it's success had led to IMFF Youth. For more information about Indie Meme and IMFF, please visit indiememe.org.
