You may have noticed the RED Award winners in the May/June 2019 issue of Luxe Interiors + Design! Luxe Interiors + Design’s annual RED Awards recognizes and honors excellence, innovation and the best residential architecture, interior design and landscape architecture projects across the country. We were excited to have our Wallis Residence project showcased as the Regional Winner in the category of Classic Architecture.

The home was then selected as an editorial feature in the current November/December 2019 issue! Ranjit Gupta, Design Director here at Cornerstone Architects, worked together with builder, Brian Fuchs of BRF Homes and interior designer, Andrea Giles of Andrea Leigh Interiors to revive a beautiful piece of land near the heart of Austin.
The beautiful lot in Rollingwood captivated the clients, despite the dilapidated structure that originally occupied the property. The land graciously bowed to the west, and the remarkable maturing live oaks scattered around the lot stuck out like dark tendrils in the overgrown grassy landscape. The layout and organization required a deft compilation of spaces around these gorgeous trees.

"The design for the new home was inspired by the client’s fascination with the classic forms: traditional shapes and proportions, yet simple, clean and elegant in presentation." Ranjit Gupta, Project Architect
Natural light was critical in every room. Continuity and flow from each room demanded a virtuosic progression from public to more private areas awash in light. Upon entry, the dining area, great room and kitchen all lead your gaze to a large glass wall that opens to the outdoor lanai and a sequence of oak trees.

"The key design concept for the dining room was to keep it clean and contemporary with a lot of seating for their large family gatherings. We wanted the ceiling detail to be a highlight so we kept everything else pretty simple." Andrea Giles, Interior Designer
The kitchen wraps around the corner and opens to a large arched window framing a twin-bole live oak sitting in the south courtyard.
